GAIS chairman Stefan Tilk has reaffirmed the club's commitment to its long-term sporting strategy despite a more challenging season. The club currently sits tenth in the Allsvenskan table with 27 points from 21 games, with recent form reading LDWWL over the last five matches.

Tilk used an annual report to outline progress across several areas. He reiterated the goal of establishing GAIS as a stable club in the top half of the league through sustained development, not quick fixes. "When I last wrote, I used the phrase that our journey to a stable, warm and humbly successful club had only just begun - we are on that journey and it is incredibly fun," Tilk said.

Organisational changes

Several key figures have departed or taken on new roles during the year. Lallo Fernandez resigned as sports officer on the board after differing views on the distribution of responsibilities within sporting operations. Fernandez has been involved with GAIS since his playing career began in 1968. Szofia Jakobsson left the club in September and her duties are now being distributed internally, with Sofia Armskog as a key person.

Simultaneously, the club has strengthened with new expertise. Patrik Persson was recruited to strengthen set-piece situations. Erik Rydén has been acting academy head since June, while Adam Fogelblad was appointed as coordinator for scouting activities and transition coach.

Economic and infrastructure development

Financial strength is a central part of the plan. GAIS aims to build equity of around 100 million Swedish kronor in the coming years. Partner revenue has grown significantly, from approximately 4 million kronor a few years ago to around 19 million this year.

A symbolically important event was the club regaining ownership of GAIS-gården. The development of the property requires additional time due to environmental and permitting assessments by city officials.

Investment in youth football

Youth football participation at GAIS has more than doubled over the last four years. The ambition is to create a clear pathway from youth football via the academy to the senior team, with the goal of having a few homegrown players in the starting lineup. The club also supports developing women's football as part of its future.

Supporter backing at Gamla Ullevi is highlighted as particularly meaningful. Tilk emphasises that style, class, and tradition are core values that should guide the club's conduct and development. "The board has the ultimate responsibility for the association's development. That sometimes means handling issues that are not easy," he noted.

The club plans a members' meeting in the autumn and mentions Sölvesborg as a possible location for a future gathering. Ahead of the next fixture, away to 12th-placed Mjällby AIF on September 20, GAIS will be without the injured Anes Cardaklija and Róbert Frosti Thorkelsson. The team's top scorer so far this season is S. Salter with six goals. The full fixture list and current injuries are available to follow on the club's site.
