GAIS won the Göteborgsderby against Häcken 3-1, with goals from Niklasson Petrovic and Diabate. Before the match, there was a good feeling and perfect conditions for a great day. GAIS lined up with a good eleven and it was clear that they wanted to win. In the seventh minute, Boudri won the ball high and drove down to the sideline, played it into the box to Lundgren, who calmly laid it back to Niklasson Petrovic, who shot the ball and gave GAIS an early lead. It would only take 7 minutes before 2-0 was a fact. Niklasson Petrovic finished in the penalty area but shot into the block, but the ball bounced perfectly to Diabate, and as the top scorer in Allsvenskan, there were no doubts, he volleyed the ball easily past Berisha in the Häcken goal. GAIS had a few half-chances here and there, but nothing that was really close to 3-0. In the second half, GAIS came out even stronger, perhaps not surprisingly given the lead they had. In the 53rd minute, GAIS would push forward, Lundgren with a perfect pass to Milovanovic, who finished from the penalty spot, but unfortunately straight at Berisha. The GAIS midfield, Milovanovic, Boudri, and Holmén all had a fantastic game today, winning duels, contributing with offensive threats, and especially William and Boudri, who made many threatening runs into the box and deep. A big congratulations to Daniel Bengtsson, who today made his Allsvenskan debut at 17 years old, very impressive, and now we hope it takes off from here.
