GAIS has announced that they will not allow a demonstration at their event. This comes after a group calling themselves Gaisare för ett fritt Palestina called for a demonstration in connection with the match against Kalmar. The group had written on social media that they would stand with flags in the curve on active seating. GAIS chairman Stefan Tilk said that it is a GAIS arrangement and if someone wants to make a demonstration, they should do it through GAIS. On Friday, GAIS released further information and banned national flags in the stands during the match against Kalmar. Stefan Tilk said that they have felt that there are different views on this and they fear that it could lead to disturbances if flags are brought in at this time. Two hours before GAIS' announcement, Gaisare för ett fritt Palestina announced that they would not have any demonstration during the match against Kalmar. They wrote on social media that they do not want anything they do or stand behind to lead to disturbances that could ultimately affect the police's assessment of the matter. According to Stefan Tilk, it is GAIS themselves who decide what can be displayed on the arena during their arrangements. He said that they want to have an open and good dialogue and a nice arrangement where everyone can express their feelings. But they cannot allow it to become a conflict or disturbance due to different thinking about another conflict in the world. GAIS will have a board meeting this week to discuss how they will act on the issue in upcoming matches. Stefan Tilk said that he cannot anticipate any discussion there. It is important for GAIS to have a good and safe environment for all supporters during the matches.
